What a media wall is
A media wall is a framed and boarded feature wall built out from an existing wall. It gives your TV a flush, solid mounting point, hides the cables and boxes, and can include shelving, cupboards, alcoves or recesses for speakers and a sound bar.
Because it is built in place, it is sized to your room and your screen rather than to a standard furniture size.

Materials, methods and variations
Framing and boarding
The wall is built from a timber frame fixed to the existing wall, floor and ceiling. Extra timber is added wherever the TV bracket, shelves or cupboard doors will fix. The frame is then boarded ready for plastering, painting or cladding.
Finishes and variations
Popular options include a plain painted wall with a recess for the screen, panelled designs, vertical timber slats, and walls with alcove shelving either side. Some people add a recess for a fire or LED lighting; tell us at the design visit and we will explain what is possible in your room.
Planning for equipment
We work from the real sizes of your TV, sound bar, speakers and set-top boxes. Openings are sized with room for air to move, and cable routes are left accessible so you can change equipment later without opening the wall.
Electrics
If new sockets or wiring are needed, that work must be done by a qualified electrician. We will plan the wall so the electrical work fits into the build.
